"Senior Instructors" have over two years of experience as a flight instructor, over 1,000 hours of flight time, and over 500 hours of instruction given in airplanes. The experience level of our staff is another of the many factors that set us apart from the competition.

Charles "Trey" Walters III  (CEO) and his wife Kelsey  (CFO) started Blue Line Aviation with one goal:  to provide the highest quality flight instruction for your dollar.  Trey is a decorated Operation Iraqi freedom veteran and former Raleigh Police Officer.  He grew up around airplanes and started training towards his license in 2001. He holds Commercial, Instrument, Flight Instructor, and Instrument Instructor ratings for both single and multi-engine aircraft with over 14 years of flying experience.

Ray is an aviation enthusiast with an extensive background in aviation, business, and project management. He is a certified advanced ground instructor, earned a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and his BA degrees in Business Management and in Economics from North Carolina State University. Originally from Orange County, CA, James is a graduate of Rollins College and holds a Master's Degree in Human Resources Management with special emphasis in Training and Organizational Development. Prior to pursuing a career in Aviation, James worked with attractions testing and design at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts and served as the General Manager of Operations with the Universal Orlando Resort. James is now pursuing a career in aviation and completed his Certified Flight Instructor training at Blue Line.James currently serves as Blue Line's Pilot Training Advisor. In this role, James is the point of contact for all potential students, students that are seeking additional training, and current students who need assistance with their current training programs. Ben is a graduate of Auburn University's flight education program where he earned a Bachelor's in Business Administration: Professional Flight Management in addition to Commercial Single Engine, Multi Engine certificates and Instrument rating. Growing up north of Huntsville, AL the Rocket City, Ben has been flying since 2001 and has accumulated over 3,000 hours through flight instruction and corporate aviation. Ben holds certificates as a Certified Flight Instructor for single and multi engine airplanes and is also an Instrument Instructor. Bethany has been in the aviation field for over ten years. She started as an aviation student at Purdue University where she obtained all of her flight training. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Professional Flight Technology. She instructed at Purdue University before being hired by Republic Airlines where she flew Embraer 175 aircraft. She went on to work at Delta private jets. She is now a stay at home mom and enjoys teaching flying to stay involved with aviation. She has over 5,000 hours of flight time, most of which is in Jets as a professional pilot. Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Thomas graduated from the university of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts. Thomas became interested in aviation at a very early age and took his first flight lesson in 2000. Thomas has over 14 years of flying experience and loves to share his enthusiasm for aviation with anyone who is willing to listen. Before becoming a CFI, Thomas was Deputy Sheriff with Pitt and New Hanover Counties. Thomas completed his CFI training with Blue Line and is now enjoying the thrills of flight instruction! Thomas Harkins, CFI

Andy has an extensive background in Federal Government emergency management and over ten years of general aviation experience.  In addition to being a flight instructor, he volunteers as a Search and Rescue Mission Pilot with the Civil Air Patrol.  Also an Eagle Scout, Andy teaches aerospace education to youths and frequently flys them on their first flight in a general aviation airplane.  He finds great satisfaction in working with his students and sharing his expertise to help them realize the joy of flying.  He excels at molding his teaching style around the needs and personalities of his students with a blend of information, demonstration, and humor.
